Counselor Applications

We are seeking volunteer counselors for our 2023-2024 camps which will be held October 20-22, 2023, Feb. 9-11, 2024, and April 7, 2024. A completed application for new counselors includes the online application, 2 online references, and a submission of a current Child Protection Training Certificate.

Returning counselors only need to submit their application and current CPT certificate. You will also need to submit additional documents if your application is approved.

The final submission dates for counselor applications are Oct. 4, 2023, Jan. 24, 2024, and March 20, 2024. One application will cover all sessions for the 2023-2024 year. You have the option to decide which sessions you wish to apply for.

References

New overnight camp counselors must submit two references (this does not apply to day camp counselors or returning counselors.) The individuals you choose will need to fill out a reference form.

We suggest choosing someone who has seen your work with children, a professor, someone with whom you have volunteered, or someone you have worked for.

No family members or employees of Camp LIFE may serve as your references.

Child Protection Training

All counselors are required to complete the TAMU Child Protection Training. If you do not have a current certificate (<2 years old from the last date of camp) you will have to take the online class. When you create your account, do not use an email address that includes an underscore “_”. The system does not recognize addresses with this character.

The password to access the training is provided when you submit your application. We suggest you copy and paste the password. After you have completed the course, an email will be sent to the email address you used to log in to the training. This email will contain a link to the completion certificate; click this link, save or print your certificate, and send your certificate to Lucinda Thelen at lathelen@exchange.tamu.edu.

Additional Requirements (if approved)

Training

All new camp counselors must attend the Camp LIFE training, via Zoom, 2 pm – 5 pm the Sunday prior to camp.

Background Check

If you are chosen to volunteer at Camp LIFE we will run a background check. You’ll receive an email from me letting you know your application has been approved and that the background check will begin. This process will begin approximately two weeks before camp.

COVID-19 Screening

We will screen everyone for COVID-19 symptoms upon check-in and every morning during camp. If you display more than two COVID-related symptoms you will need to go home.

Forms
