Camp Applications

Counselor and Camper Interaction

Many of the camp’s counselors are preservice special education students at A&M, who appreciate the rare experience of spending a weekend with children like those they will be teaching one day in their classrooms. A low counselor-to-camp ratio ensures that each camper with a disability receives the support he or she needs to fully participate in all activities of their choice. Additionally, sibling campers enjoy an extra dose of attention not always available to them when their parents are understandably busy caring for their child who has a disability. Any applications received after the camp is full will be placed on a waitlist.

Camper Application Process

Are you interested in applying for someone to attend Camp LIFE? To allow new campers the opportunity to experience Camp LIFE, applications will no longer be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. We will reserve several spots for new campers and the remaining spots will be for returning campers. Returning campers who could not attend the previous camp will be given priority. Children/adults with disabilities (ages 6 and up) and siblings without disabilities aged 6 and up are eligible for camp. If space is limited, only one sibling per family may attend. Camp dates for 2024-2025 are October 18-20, 2024, February 7-9, 2025 and April 6, 2025.

Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, Camp LIFE has instituted a voluntary two-tier fee program. You may choose the tier that is most suitable for your family:

  1. Tier I ($275) is a partially subsidized fee for those who can pay a little but still cannot afford the entire cost of the camp.
  2. Tier II ($375) most closely accounts for the true costs of the camp. The camp fees are per person.

Campers who are financially assisted by agencies/organizations are asked to pay the full fee (Tier II.) If you choose Tier I, please state your need for stipend support on your application. There is a limited amount of stipend support available.

COVID-19 Screening

We will screen everyone for COVID-19 symptoms.  Anyone who has two or more symptoms will be unable to attend camp. There will also be daily screenings and anyone who has two or more symptoms will be sent home.
